Feinaki Beijing Animation Week is an independent animation festival I co-founded in 2019 and ran as operational director through its 2019 and 2020 editions. Built from nothing into an international community of independent animators, it pairs an annual week of screenings in Beijing with curated programmes through the year, online and off. Cartoon Brew and CGTN described it as the event bringing world independent animation to Chinese audiences.
Selected programmes: the 2020 Feinaki global special screening with abC Art Book Fair and Times Museum; the RCA 30-year animation retrospective, 2019; and an online series with animation directors from around the world. For the 2020 edition I also curated an artist talk and wrote Fringes of (Chinese) Animation for the International Short Film Festival Winterthur.
